What is Mobile Check Deposit?

Mobile Check Deposit is a service by which you can deposit a check from anywhere, with your camera-equipped smart phone or tablet computer. Checks deposited using Mobile Check Deposit are deposited securely to your Bellwether share account. 

How do I sign up for Mobile Check Deposit?

There is no sign up process for using Mobile Check Deposit.  Simply select the “Deposit A Check” option and follow the instructions.

What fees are associated with this service?

There are no additional fees to use Mobile Check Deposit. Please see Bellwether Community Credit Union's Fee Schedule for costs associated with loans and deposit accounts.

How quickly will the deposit be credited to my account?

Checks submitted for deposit prior to 4:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) will usually be credited to your account on the same business day. Deposits submitted after 4:00 pm EST will usually be credited to your account on the next business day. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Note that all deposits made through Mobile Check Deposit are subject to review. You will receive a confirmation email when the deposit has been accepted for processing. Funds may not be available immediately.

Will there be any special holds places on this type of deposit?

Please refer to Bellwether Community Credit Union's Funds Availability policy to find out how soon your deposit will be available for your use.

Are there any types of checks that cannot be submitted using Mobile Check Deposit?

The following items cannot be submitted for deposit or payment using Mobile Check Deposit:

  1. Savings Bonds
  2. Foreign Checks
  3. Checks previously endorsed by Bellwether
  4. Third Party Checks
  5. Any item that is "stale dated" or "post dated"
  6. Any item that is incomplete (i.e. missing the date, missing the payee, etc.)
  7. Any item that contains evidence of alteration to the information on the check
  8. Any item that is stamped with a "non-negotiable" watermark

How should I endorse the check?

The back of each check should include:

  1. Your signature
  2. The account number to which the check is being deposited
  3. The words "For mobile deposit at BCCU"

PLEASE NOTE: If the back of the check is not properly endorsed, we reserve the right to reject the check for deposit

What else will I need to do to send in my deposit?

After you endorse the back of the check(s) according to the indications above, you will need to do the following:

  1. Log in to your WEB24 Online Banking mobile account
  2. Select the “Deposit a Check” option and follow the on screen instructions.  It’s as easy as that!

The image of the check transmitted must be legible and have all the key information as outlined in the Mobile Check Deposit End User Agreement.

How long should I hold on to my check(s) after I scan it using Mobile Check Deposit?

Once you have scanned your check(s) and your deposit has been credited to your account, you should securely store the original check a minimum of 90 days. After that time period it is recommended that checks be shredded/destroyed.
